MCP-601 DVI/VGA-TO-VIDEO SCAN CONVERTER/ENCODER
WITH OVERLAY AND MIXED EFFECTS
• Direct Digital Encoding (DDE) of DVI signals to SDI-601 with full digital-to-digital signal path
• High quality scan conversion of VGA graphic displays to SDI 601 and Composite NTSC/PAL, or Component analog video
• Genlock allows synchronizing, mixing, overlaying and down-stream keying of DVI/VGA with SDI-601 and analog video
• Key modes of video over graphics and graphics over video
• SDI 601 and analog key outputs for downstream keying
• Full field alpha key, chroma key and transparent key functions
• Video/graphics split screen video output combines a resized live video input with graphics input
• Automatic recognition and lock to standard display resolutions up to 1600 x 1280
• Broadcast video and underscan video output modes for broadcast or multimedia applications
• MagniPort
™
graphics window provides Pan and Zoom functions that can be positioned and scaled (up to 2X) for
optimum viewing impact in the output video
• Plug & Play setup with IR controller, Magni Premier application software, USB and RS-232 compatible for
additional flexibility
With Direct Digital Encoding (DDE), the MCP-601 provides the highest quality and the most cost effective means
of creating broadcast quality video from PC graphics. It also provides a method of overlaying computer graphics
with video for applications such as titling, logo insertions, and adding computer generated data to video.
The MCP-601’s novel Video/Graphics Split function provides a way to add computer generated graphics to video,
such as commercial messages on a live broadcast, while preserving the full television picture in reduced size. The
Video/Graphics Split mode provides a feature previously only available on mix effects switchers. The full input video
can be reduced in size (5% to 90%) and positioned anywhere within the video frame. This allows the addition of
graphics and messages in the output video screen without interfering with the original video picture.
The MCP-601 provides several powerful keying functions. Internal keying or external keying can be selected for
use with mixers and switchers. The unique SDI 601 key output provides downstream keying capability for digital
switchers. Key colors are palette register selectable from a VGA display or from a video signal, and are used to over
lay graphics onto the video as in chroma keying, or overlay video onto the scan converted VGA in the video output.
The Transparent Key mode provides a convenient method of adding transparent logos to video. The Alpha Key mode
provides a method of full-field spatial keying defined by luminance key levels. The Alpha Key levels are stored as
a template in the MCP-601 and used to key the VGA display onto the video.
The MCP-601 is controlled by the Magni Premier control software (through RS-232 or USB ports), the FX-1
controller unit, or an IR remote controller. Resident software is not required on the computer.
